The FBN introduces itself

” At the generous invitation of Air Commodore Paul LYALL, OBE,MA,RAF (retired) the FBN participated in a “Garden Party” held at the home of Lynne and Paul Lyall on 11th September 2019, in the picturesque Dordogne village of Lusignac 24320.

In true British fashion, the guests were served a traditional “Cream Tea”, and this, to the delight of the 50 or so participants. Including Mme Dominique Olley, Consul at the British Consulate in Bordeaux, M.Didier Gouraud, President of the Chambre des Métiers et Artisanal, several FBN members and Jounalists from Sud Ouest Newspaper.

We were fortunate with the weather, and perhaps even more fortunate to welcome, as Guest of Honour, Ms Dominique Olley, Consul at the British Consulate in Bordeaux, who kindly addressed those present on the subject of topical issues, and warmly welcomed the formation of the Franco-British Network (FBN).

Other brief but pertinent addresses were made by the host, Paul Lyall and by the FBN President, Roger Haigh.  Roger gave particular thanks to Dominique Olley, the Consul from Bordeaux for attending, knowing just how busy she and her team are, because they are presently inundated with the concerns of UK Nationals who have elected to live in France, and are presently living under a cloud of uncertainty!

It is the sincere intention of all parties to ensure that the Consulate and the FBN work closely together over the coming months and years.

Close cooperation is already in place and the Préfecture of the Dordogne is recognising the added value the FBN can provide.

All present were able to enjoy a convivial, informative and indeed delicious afternoon and our sincere thanks go out to Paul and Lynne as well as to their friends and neighbours who assisted so admirably in making the event a resounding success.”
